Economic Development is one of our Sorority’ Five -Point Programmatic Thrust. The Oklahoma Sooner City Alumnae Chapter’s Economic Committee creates comprehensive programming through seminars and presentations to address financial management, Economic empowerment, and busines ownership for the Chapter and communities in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area. We have created programs for teens and adults.
∆ Dollars and Cents: These workshops are for Youth Initiative Participants: Delta Academy/Delta GEMS, and designed to help educate youth on how to earn money, save money and ways to save for college preparation.
∆ Entrepreneurship Education: This training will cover invaluable information regarding the importance of making a business plan, common mistakes made in starting up a business, how to obtain capital to fund the startup, and education of legal/tax considerations. This event is free to the public and participants will receive a certificate of completion.
∆ Financial Crime Prevention Workshop: With identity theft and financial crimes on the rise, the intent of this workshop is to help individuals understand all aspects of identity theft and financial crimes and how to avoid them. Individuals will learn how to recognize when their identity has been stolen, receive tips for reclaiming their identity once it is stolen, and identify ways of protecting oneself from becoming a victim in the future. In addition, individuals will learn the top financial crimes that could impact their bank accounts and the federal regulations that protect their consumer rights.
